Getting the fish aboard...
Our go to gaff aboard "So It Goes" is a
commercial halibut gaff
which is pretty common on the west coast...
They're available in sizes ranging from about a foot to a yard or more in length. For our boat, 24-inches is just about right.
The other sort of gaff I'd like to have aboard is the sort which is the fusion of a
baseball bat married to a spike
Obviously, gaffs are not catch-and-release friendly so you also need a means of dealing with fish you'll want to release and these
plastic lip locks
inspired by vise-grips are just the thing...
Stuff that works
