I've been muddling over something of a conundrum about what makes a good starter fishing package for someone just getting into it... and the going has not been easy.
The problem with most starter gear or packages is it's mostly crap but cheap. If you start out with crappy gear your experience will be less than wonderful and more than likely you won't continue fishing... Sort of a problematic equation!
On the other hand, if you happen to start out with a decent rod and reel you won't feel a burning desire to upgrade to non-crappy gear. Which the vendors of gear don't like because they want you to trade up as that's where they start showing a profit...
